OUR STORY

Over 50 Years of Supporting Young Minds

From our 1974 beginnings in Ontario to a national charity in Canada, we’ve evolved into a national charity equipping children and youth with coping skills, and supporting the adults who care for them.

A VISION THAT STARTED IT ALL

Over 50 years ago, a bold idea took root: to harness psychology’s power to build a healthier, brighter future for Canadians. In 1974, a visionary group of psychologists formed the Ontario Psychological Foundation to build understanding, spark innovation, and celebrate excellence in psychological science.

Our Mission Today

We deliver evidence-based programs and resources that empower young people from birth to 18 with essential coping skills for life, focusing on three pillars: Attachment, Stress Management, and Capacity Building. We also support the parents, caregivers, educators, and professionals who are key to their success.

From Vision to National Impact

As our reach grew, our name evolved to The Psychology Foundation of Canada, and later to Strong Minds Strong Kids, Psychology Canada. For over five decades, we’ve touched the lives of millions of children and youth, equipping them to cope, grow, and thrive.
