Internships (Judy Hills Internship)
Are you an upper-year psychology student at a Canadian university eager to gain hands-on experience while making a positive impact? Our Judy Hills Internship offers a unique opportunity to work alongside our dedicated team, supporting children’s mental well-being. If you’re passionate about helping kids thrive and interested in gaining experience in the charitable sector, explore our call for applications.
The Judy Hills Internship is available for both the Fall and Winter terms.

Grants
Funding that advances children’s mental health
We support innovative, mission-aligned research that promotes mental well-being and resilience in children and youth. Since 2015, we have been the home of the Canadian Psychological Association Foundation and administer its awards and grants program.
Jean & Dick Pettifor Award — Call for Student Proposals (up to $10,000)
This fund, created through a gift from the Estate of Dr. Jean Pettifor, supports student research projects in professional ethics as related to the practice of psychology, or general ethics within psychology. Funding of up to $10,000 is available annually; the excellence of the proposal is the primary selection criterion. Documentation of submission to your institution’s Research Ethics Board (REB) must accompany every application.
Eligibility
You are a student in a psychology program at a Canadian university.
You are an affiliate member of the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) or a provincial psychological association.

Past Recipients
Congratulations to Dr. Kristin Fossum, Recipient of the Dr. Bea Wickett Award 2024!
We are proud to announce that Dr. Kristin Fossum has been awarded the Dr. Bea Wickett Award in recognition of her impactful work supporting students with neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs).
This award will help fund Dr. Fossum’s project to enhance emotion regulation skills among rural students by implementing an evidence-based group intervention. In addition to directly benefiting students, her initiative will also build educator capacity within the Limestone District School Board (LDSB) in Kingston, Ontario, equipping teachers with tools to better support their students’ emotional well-being.
Congratulations once again to Dr. Fossum on this well-deserved recognition!

We celebrate outstanding contributions to youth mental health in our communities. Our annual awards recognize individuals, organizations, and partners that are making a significant difference in the lives of children and youth.

Major Contribution Award:
This award honours those who have made significant contributions to the work of Strong Minds Strong Kids, Psychology Canada. This award may be in any of the following categories: founder, program development, leadership and fundraising.
Award Recipient:
Congratulations to Dr. Nicole Racine as the recipient of our Major Contribution Award in recognition of her leadership and unwavering support in enhancing our Make the Connection program.
Corporate and Foundation Supporters Award:
This award recognizes a company’s or foundation’s philanthropy and support for the development of our programs and resources that raise awareness of mental health issues or which create practical programs for developing an individual’s or family’s good mental health.
Award Recipient:
Congratulations to Rideau Hall Foundation as the recipient of our Foundation Supporter Award in recognition of their generous support in expanding our Peer Mentor Program, empowering more youth to thrive.
Leaders in Knowledge Building, Knowledge Transfer Award:
This award honours academics, researchers and practitioners who have made significant contributions to the body of knowledge relating to important issues that affect mental health. Their work has helped to build capacity within the psychology community to develop and/or deliver more effective services that improve the mental health and well-being of children and families.
Award Recipient:
Congratulations to Dr. Debra Pepler as recipient of our Leaders in Knowledge Building/Knowledge Transfer in recognition of her groundbreaking research, exemplary leadership, and impact on advancing children’s mental health.
Youth Award:
This award recognizes the contributions youth make to, or for the mental health sector.
Award Recipient:
Congratulations Destiny and Benjamin as the recipients of the Youth Award in recognition of their support in building our Stress Coach Chatbot.
Community Partners Award:
This award recognizes a partnership that exemplifies excellence for advancing the promotion and implementation of our programs and /or resources in local communities. These partnerships involve either individuals or organizations from the private, voluntary or public sectors.
Award Recipient:
Congratulations to Laura Karpouzis at AY Jackson Secondary School, TDSB as the recipient of our Community Partner Award in recognition of her support, helping us reach more children through our Stress Lessons, Peer Mentor, and StressLess programs.
Media individuals, TV, Radio, and Print Award:
This award recognizes those (individuals or organizations) who have dedicated efforts to raise awareness of mental health issues, support for parents and professionals working with children
