Giving Kids the Tools to Bust Stress,
Developed from our evidence-based Kids Have Stress Too! curriculum, Stress Busters teaches kids in grades 3-6, practical, psychologically sound strategies for busting stress!
STRESS BUSTERS PROGRAM
Overview
Led by a trained SMSKPC facilitator, Stress Busters provides a safe and supportive group environment where kids can create meaningful connections with their peers, while learning to navigate worries, cope with stress and build resilience!
In Stress Busters, kids will explore key topics including:
Understanding Stress: Kids discover what stress is, and how stress impacts their emotions, body and health if not managed properly.
Stressed or Not Stressed: Kids reflect on stressful situations and begin to think about ways to cope.
Worries & Fears: Kids learn to problem solve and become equipped to manage situations that make them anxious or afraid.
Deep Breathing: Kids learn a series of simple deep breathing exercises that can help them self-regulate.
Listening to the Positive Voice: Kids think about supportive people in their lives who believe in them, and learn to reach out for support when needed.
Hooked by Stress: Kids learn to recognize stressful situations that trigger negative responses and learn how to react in a more positive, healthy way.
Express Yourself to Bust Stress: Kids explore creative self-expression as an effective stress buster.
Program Offerings & Highlights:
Offered as 1-hour weekly sessions for 6 weeks or 1.5-hour daily sessions for 5 days
Available in-person (GTA only) or online (Canada-wide) via Zoom
Includes a Stress Busters Activity Book to reinforce learning and encourage discussions with trusted adults.
Includes a welcome package for educators and parents/caregivers.
