TAKING CARE OF YOU(th) PROGRAM

Overview

Taking Care of You(th) encourages youth to explore the nature of stress, recognize their own stressors, and learn practical strategies to cope effectively.

The goal is to equip young people with the tools they need to handle stress in healthy ways, promoting overall well-being and resilience.

Key Learning Objectives:

  • Understand Stress: Young people will gain a clear understanding of what stress is; how it affects their mind, body, emotions, and behaviour; why it’s a natural response to challenges; and the difference between healthy and unhealthy stress.

  • Recognize Personal Experiences of Stress: Young people will reflect on their own experiences of stress, identifying common stressors and understanding the impact of stress on their emotions, thoughts, body, and behaviours.

  • Stress Management Strategies: Young people will learn and practice practical strategies for managing stress, including mindfulness techniques, relaxation exercises, time management, physical activity, and positive self-talk.

  • Create a Personalized Stress Management Plan: Young people will develop a tailored stress management plan, incorporating the strategies that work best for them. This plan will serve as a valuable tool for managing stress in their daily lives and fostering long-term well-being.

Want to spread the impact further?

Taking Care of You(th) can be combined with our Peer Mentor program to give teens the tools to use what they have learned to support their peers with stress management.
