Webinar: Why Math Feels Hard: How Children Learn Math—and Why Emotions Matter

Why does math feel so hard for some children? It’s not just about numbers—it’s about emotions, too.

In this engaging session, we’ll explore how children develop mathematical thinking and the key skills that support learning—like memory, attention, and spatial reasoning. We’ll also unpack math anxiety, how it shows up, and why it can lead to avoidance over time.

Most importantly, you’ll learn practical ways to support children both academically and emotionally—helping build confidence, reduce anxiety, and create positive learning experiences.

Webinar: Siblings Matter, Too: Sibling Relationships as a Window into Children’s Social Development

We have long recognized that siblings represent children’s first playmates and friends. However, the impact of our relationships with our siblings is often overlooked in favour of parent-child relationships, peer relationships, and friendships. Although parents, peers, and friends each play critical roles in young peoples’ lives, the sibling relationship represents one of the more enduring and affective intense bonds for children and teens. A particular issue that occurs most commonly between siblings is that of conflict.

In this webinar, we will discuss:

1. what sibling conflict looks like during childhood and adolescence,

2. how aggression is often conflated with conflict between siblings, and

3. how to recognize, become involved, and support young people’s conflict resolution skills, which will support their social development and overall mental health.
